Looking forward to the amber pictures, however I recommend getting some image stackung software, there is a good, free program I used at uni that I'll find a download link to. Basically, because microscopes have poor depth of field, you can't always get the entire specimen in focus at once. However, if you focus up so the closest part of it is in focus, take a picture, focus down by a tiny amount, take another picture, and so on until you get to the bottom of the specimen, this program will take those pictures and combine the bits that are in focus so you get one picture with the whole specimen in focus. It's a lot simpler than it sounds, I did this whole process- including the photo taking- for all of my amber in about 2 hours (there's a thread in the 'Purchased fossils' section). thumbsup

Cheers will look at into it Smile
it came with a program to bring out the colours better of what you took.
sadly it can't hold to big fossils about 3cm fossils if you want to focus is the limit :/
but still very good for the price of £30 Very Happy i got it at lidl and it was only being sold because the
box was a tiny bit damaged. No inside contents were scratched.
will have some pictures tommorow and will keep adding to the topic the more i take.

The midge looks good, I'd love to see it under a more powerful microscope

yea its not a very powerful microscope but the midge is in the corner next to a crack and the amber at that part isn't as transparent thats why the reflection is green. but for £3 it's good for the money.

london at a market in piccadilly circus were there was a guy selling amber jewlery i asked if he had any raw peices and he brought out a plate with some on
and said he doesn't normally deal with raw amber. i then saw a small peice with a black spot on he told me it had a insect and he didn't know the price for insects
so sold it to me for £3 Smile

That is a good deal I would say, insects are worth a bit more normally.
