    I am dissolving a bit of Aust and found these: Would I be right in thinking these are fish scales?


    Aust: Fish Scales? Scale10

    and

    Aust: Fish Scales? Scale210

    Any ideas would be grateful Spleain


    Found plenty of little teeth... this is the smallest tooth I have managed to find... 0.79mm !!

    Maybe, there are 3-4 major scale groups though.. I'll check my VP notes on fishys and get back to you Smile Got anything a little more in-focus?

    The scales are Gyrolepsis albertii.

    Can't make out any distinguishing features on the tooth I'm afraid but possible Severnichthys acuminatus.

    Be on the look out for Hybodontid scales as these are very distinctive and quite interesting.
