Fossil Worm Tube Empty Fossil Worm Tube

Post  Kosmos Fri Feb 17, 2012 1:38 pm

Here is a worm tube I found. Found in Bedfordshire, on December 28th 2011. It is around 70 - 90 million years old, (late Cretaceous). It is about 5cm in length including the curl at the end. Proliserpula Ampullacea (a worm).
Hope you enjoy it! Very Happy
    Best wishes,
    Kosmos.

Forgot to say, this was not found in the quarry itself, but at the "dump" (a little outcrop on the way to the quarry).

Is this a good place to hunt? If the quarry accessible?

I would say it is a good place to hunt, and yes, the quarry is accessible. You need to know the area quite well to get around there though. There are so many paths taking you to different places.

Yes, it does a bit, maybe it is the curl at the end. Razz

Had this one ID'd by experts both from the natural history museum and experienced local hunters.
