A little something from Germany..

Well here's the first of my many finds from the Germany trip in April, still need to work through the rest of them before I can show anything else though..


Harpoceras (big ones) and Kosmoceras (smaller ones) from the Posidonia Schiefe from Dottenhausen. The Kosmoceras are the same species (the same age) that you get in Whitby, but these are preserved in a much different environment!

A great speciem! I thought Kosmoceras was restricted to the Callovian and the rocks around Whitby were Toarcian? Could you fill me in a bit please...

Hmm it might not have been Whitby, but they're definitely somewhere in the Uk as well
