Just finished reading Karolyn Shindler's Discovering Dorothea. Absolutely brilliant biography about Dorothea Bates a "fearless explorer and pioneering fossil-hunter and scientist" who in 1898 at the age of 19 walked into the Naturla History museum and demanded a job. Thus began her lifetimes work in fossils, discovering extinct dwarf elephants, hippos, giant dormice and oversized swans. By the end of her life she was an expert in her field and in demand worldwide. Well worth a read.
