Far from showing you something gigantic, here is something very small and delicate which I suspected and am now confident is a small section of Horsetail stem known as Calamites from the Carboniferous. I have three smaller pieces that create the circular section but alas there was no more of this stem to be found in the rock from which I extracted it. I found this in Howick, Northumberland.
